What is the difference between meltblown cloth and non-woven fabric?

Ⅰ.Meltblown cloth

        Meltblown cloth uses polypropylene as the main raw material, and the fiber diameter is 1 to 5 microns. It has many gaps, fluffy structure, good wrinkle resistance, and ultrafine fibers with unique capillary structure, which can increase the number and surface area of fibers per unit area, so that meltblown cloth has good filtering, shielding, insulation and oil absorption.

It can be used in air, liquid filter materials, isolation materials, absorption materials, mask materials, thermal insulation materials, oil absorption materials and wiping cloths.

Ⅱ.Application range

①Medical and health fabrics: surgical gowns, protective clothing, disinfection wraps, masks, diapers, sanitary napkins, etc.;

②Home decoration fabrics: wall coverings, tablecloths, bed sheets, bedspreads, etc.;

③Heel-mounted fabrics: linings, adhesive interlinings, flakes, shaped cotton, various synthetic leather base fabrics, etc.;

        Meltblown fabric filter material is made of polypropylene ultrafine fibers randomly distributed and bonded together. It looks white, smooth and soft. The fiber fineness of the material is 0.5-1.0μm. The random distribution of fibers provides more thermal bonding opportunities between fibers, so that the meltblown gas filter material has a larger specific surface area and a higher porosity (≥75%).

        After high-pressure electret filtration, the product has the characteristics of low resistance, high efficiency, and high dust holding capacity.

Ⅲ.Non-woven fabric

        Non-woven fabric, also known as non-woven fabric, is composed of directional or random fibers. It is called cloth because it has the appearance and certain properties of cloth.

        Non-woven fabric has the characteristics of moisture-proof, breathable, flexible, light, non-combustible, easy to decompose, non-toxic and non-irritating, rich colors, low price, and recyclable.

        Polypropylene (pp material) pellets are mostly used as raw materials, and are produced by high-temperature melting, spinning, laying, hot pressing and winding in a continuous one-step process.

Ⅳ.Features of non-woven fabric:

        Because it is a fabric that does not require spinning and weaving, it only directional or random arrangement of textile staple fibers or filaments to form a fiber mesh structure, and then reinforced by mechanical, hot bonding or chemical methods. Non-woven fabrics have no warp and weft, and are very convenient to cut and sew. They are also light and easy to shape, and are deeply loved by handicraft enthusiasts.

        It is not made of yarns interwoven and knitted together, but the fibers are directly bonded together by physical methods. Therefore, when you take the yarn in your clothes, you will find that you can't pull out the threads. Non-woven fabrics have broken through the traditional textile principles and have the characteristics of short process flow, fast production rate, high output, low cost, wide application, and multiple sources of raw materials.

Ⅴ.The relationship between non-woven fabrics and spunbond fabrics:

        Spunbond fabrics and non-woven fabrics are subordinate. There are many production processes for the manufacture of non-woven fabrics, among which spunbond is one of the non-woven fabric production processes (including spunbond, meltblown, hot rolling, and spunlace. Most of the non-woven fabrics on the market are produced by spunbond).

        According to the composition, non-woven fabrics include polyester, polypropylene, nylon, spandex, acrylic, etc.; different compositions will have completely different styles of non-woven fabrics. Spunbond fabrics usually refer to polyester spunbond and polypropylene spunbond; the styles of these two fabrics are very similar and can only be distinguished by high temperature testing.

        Non-woven fabric is a kind of non-woven fabric. It is a non-woven fabric formed by directly using polymer slices, short fibers or filaments to form a net through airflow or machinery, and then through water spunlace, needle punching, or hot rolling reinforcement, and finally after finishing. Ⅵ.Advantages:

① Lightweight: Polypropylene resin is the main raw material for production, with a specific gravity of only 0.9, only three-fifths of cotton, fluffy and good feel.

② Soft: It is composed of fine fibers (2-3D) and lightly hot-melt bonded. The finished product is moderately soft and comfortable.

③ Water repellency and breathability: Polypropylene slices do not absorb water, the moisture content is zero, the finished product has good water repellency, it is composed of 100% fiber, it is porous, breathable, easy to keep the cloth dry and easy to wash.

④ Non-toxic and non-irritating: The product is produced with FDA food-grade raw materials, does not contain other chemical ingredients, has stable performance, is non-toxic, has no odor, and does not irritate the skin.

⑤ Antibacterial and anti-chemical agents: Polypropylene is a chemically blunt substance, not moth-eaten, and can isolate the erosion of bacteria and insects in the liquid; antibacterial and alkali corrosion, the finished product does not affect the strength due to erosion.

⑥ Antibacterial: The product has water repellency, does not mold, and can isolate the erosion of bacteria and insects in the liquid, and does not mold.

⑦ Good physical properties: made by directly spinning polypropylene into a net and thermally bonding, the product strength is better than that of general short fiber products, the strength is non-directional, and the longitudinal and transverse strengths are similar.

⑧ In terms of environmental protection: the raw material of most non-woven fabrics is polypropylene, while the raw material of plastic bags is polyethylene. Although the two substances have similar names, they are very different in chemical structure. The chemical molecular structure of polyethylene has a very strong stability and is extremely difficult to degrade, so it takes 300 years for plastic bags to decompose completely; while the chemical structure of polypropylene is not strong, and the molecular chain can be easily broken, so it can be effectively degraded and enter the next environmental cycle in a non-toxic form. A non-woven shopping bag can be completely decomposed within 90 days. Moreover, non-woven shopping bags can be reused more than 10 times, and the pollution to the environment after disposal is only 10% of that of plastic bags.

Ⅶ.Disadvantages:

① Poor strength and durability compared with textile fabrics.

② Cannot be washed like other fabrics.

③ The fibers are arranged in a certain direction, so they are easy to split from the right angle direction, etc. Therefore, the improvement of production methods is mainly focused on improving the prevention of splitting.
