Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a commonly used automation control device, widely used in industrial control, process control, machinery control and other fields. It is mainly composed of the following components.
1. Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the core component of programmable controller, which is responsible for processing and executing various control algorithms, such as logic operation, data transmission, etc. CPU is usually composed of control unit and operation unit, which is responsible for decoding instructions and executing control operations, while operation unit is used for executing various arithmetic operations.
2. Memory
Memory is used to store programs and data, including RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read-Only Memory).RAM is used to store runtime programs and data, while ROM is used to store cured programs and data to ensure that normal operation can be resumed even after a power failure or system reboot.
3. Input Module
Input modules are used to convert external input signals into digital signals for processing by the PLC. Common input modules include digital input modules, analog input modules, special input modules and so on. Digital input modules are used to receive and process switching input signals, while analog input modules are used to receive and process analog input signals.
4. Output Module
Output modules are used to convert signals processed by the PLC into external output signals. Similar to the input module, the output module also includes digital output module, analog output module, special output module and so on. Digital output module will PLC output digital signals into the corresponding switching output signal, analog output module will PLC output analog signals into the corresponding analog output signal.
5. Communication module
The communication module is used for data exchange and communication with other devices. Through the communication module, PLC can transmit data and exchange information with the upper computer, lower computer, sensors, actuators and other devices to realize distributed control and remote monitoring. The communication module includes serial communication interface, Ethernet interface, CAN bus interface and so on.
6. Power supply module
The power supply module provides the power supply required by the programmable controller, including DC power supply module and AC power supply module. The DC power module converts the DC power supply into the low-voltage DC power supply required by the controller, while the AC power module converts the AC power supply into the DC power supply required by the controller.
7. External Interfaces
Programmable controllers usually have a variety of external interfaces for connecting various devices and sensors. Common external interfaces include digital input/output interfaces, analog input/output interfaces, Ethernet interfaces, USB interfaces, RS-232 interfaces, and so on. These interfaces enable the programmable controller to conveniently exchange data and transfer information with external devices.
To summarize, programmable controllers are mainly composed of a central processor, memory, input modules, output modules, communication modules, power supply modules and external interfaces. These components work in conjunction with each other, making the programmable controller capable of realizing automation control, data processing, communication transmission and other functions, and are widely used in a variety of industrial, mechanical, process and other control fields.
